Pascal Boillod, formé à l’école d’imprimerie de Rennes et à l’école Estienne à Paris, possède une âme d’artiste qui s’est exprimée très jeune à travers le dessin qu’il affectionne depuis l’enfance. Il a pratiqué la peinture dès l’âge de 27 ans. Entièrement autodidacte, il a enrichi sa manière et ses techniques auprès du peintre alençonnais Roger Rocher, qui est devenu son ami. Il a exposé en galerie à Alençon dès l’âge de 34 ans.
La figuration est un choix délibéré, car Pascal Boillod s’intéresse au monde qui l’entoure, et à la nature en particulier. Il peint essentiellement les paysages dignes de retenir son attention, mais également de belles natures mortes. L’art animalier n’est pas de reste, tout comme le dessin à l’encre et à la sanguine qui lui permet de croquer de très beaux portraits ou de reproduire le monde animal avec beaucoup de réalisme.
Dans des compositions simples, poétiques et harmonieuses, cet univers nous est décrit sobrement et sans surprise, avec un trait assuré, une touche souple et une palette fluide, vive et colorée.
L’œuvre n’en est pas pour autant simple reflet de la réalité. Il est une réinterprétation de la nature par le peintre, dont émanent des sensations très variées, allant de la douceur et de la sérénité des chemins de campagne ou de forêts, à l’incandescence des couchers de soleil et au tumulte des mers agitées. L’univers de Pascal Boillod donne à voir le charme de la vie dans un œuvre attachant de simplicité.

Trained at the Printing School of Rennes and the Estienne School in Paris, Pascal Boillod developed a passion for art at an early age, and especially for drawing, which he has enjoyed since he was a boy. He began painting at the age of 27. This entirely self-taught artist enriched his style and techniques with painter Roger Rocher from Alençon (Normandy), and the two became friends. His first gallery exhibition was in Alençon at the age of 34.
Figurativism is a conscious choice for Pascal Boillod, since it is the world around him, and nature in particular, that interests him. Whilst his landscapes, which represent the majority of his work, are worth a second look, he also paints fine still-lifes. His wildlife art is matchless, and the same is true of his ink and red-chalk drawings, for these media allow him to sketch beautiful portraits and to reproduce the animal kingdom with great realism.
In straightforward, poetic and harmonious compositions, he conveys this kingdom with sobriety and no surprises, revealing a confident and supple brushstroke and a flowing, bright and colourful palette.
His work is not, however, a mere reflection of reality. It is a reinterpretation of nature on the part of the painter, one which evokes a wide range of feelings, from the softness and serenity of a country or wooded path, to a brilliant sunset or the turmoil of a stormy sea. The world of Pascal Boillod reveals all of life’s charms in endearingly simple paintings.
